Seajelly (Great Kills Park, August)

New York is both coastal and estuary. The unique blend of fresh and sea later supports a relatively high diversity of marine and invertebrate species. Sea jellies are found worldwide in temperate and tropical waters and feed in quiet bays and harbors. Although most sea jellies have a sting, few pose any threat to humans.
