The Bottom of the Harbor. Arthur Kill, Staten Island

In order to retain its newfound commercially competitive edge, the port of NY must continually dredge deeper and wider passage ways for the worlds' ever larger freight ships, thereby compromising the breeding grounds of winter flounder, the estuary's already delicate ecological balance in general, with the additional risk of stirring up old pollutants such as PCB's, Nickel and Mercury form the bottom of the Harbor.
