Go Wild in New York City will soon have a handbook for teachers who want to use the groundbreaking exploration of New York's nature in their classrooms. The Go Wild handbook is being developed by Angela Calabrese Barton, head of the Urban Science Education Center at Teachers College, together with a team of school principals, science teachers and graduate students. The team aims to create a work that will make urban environmental science accessible, appealing and effective for students and teachers who have a roster of standards to meet each semester. "We have an amazing array of expertise on the team. Now we just need to capture it on paper to make this handbook the best it can be," said Calabrese Barton.

Jessica Marshall, of Eye Candy Books who conceptualized Go Wild with Amy Zilliax in the belief that "once you know how mind-bendingly cool urban nature is you'll do everything in your power to take care of it - no matter how young you are, " is ecstatic about the Teachers College initiative. "Leave it to teachers to make even grown-up projects fun and stimulating," says Marshall. "Something wonderful for teachers, students, and all other NYC residents is going to come out of this."
