A New NNYN Initiative

How do you expand the conversation about our urban environment? NNYN Chief Naturalist David Rosane is using Yahoo groups as the forum to discuss everything from "the urban lifeworld, nature and society, eco-literacy and systems theory applied to nature (including human)."

The group, organized as Green Teams, was originally intended to promote extra-curricular interest in the environment in CUNY students, says Rosane. But the initial success convinced Rosane that he should expand its scope. "Green Teams is now open to engaging the public and CUNY faculty in what we consider to be crucial dialogue on the exploration, understanding and outcome of our city's ecology," he explains.

But Internet dialog is only part of the Green Teams list of activities. "We organize field trips, conduct research and serve as a growing portal to academic and grassroots resources on New York's ecosystems (including human)," says Rosane.
